We also finished 4th in the United States in Agriculture and Biotechnology Design!
In addition to project success, Dan Rella, Julie Ryan, and Beth Ann Larson were recognized with Gold Achievement Awards for their dedicated service to TSA here at High Point and in New Jersey.
Congratulations to the 2009 High Point National Conference Team...on your professionalism, your dedication, and to your successes!
TSA is a non-profit national student organization devoted to teaching technology education to young people. TSA's mission is to inspire its student members to prepare for careers in a technology-driven economy and culture. Over 500 high schools and middle schools from across the United States compete against each other every year at the National TSA Conference. However, getting to the National Conference is no easy task. Each competitor must first win at local and state levels before moving on to Nationals.
TSA has over 50 different technology-driven competitions available, across a broad range of topics, from Manufacturing Prototype to Transportation Modeling to Electronic Research to Video Game Design.
The High Point TSA Executive Board looks forward to working with you over the course of this year, as we all prepare for Baltimore 2010. Feel free to contact us at any time at

President - BAL
I began my envolvement with Technology Student Association on the first day of my high school career. I was enrolled in Women in Engineering with Mr. Wallace and fell in love with technology. My first TSA project was Transportation Modeling, my team built a Pontiac GTO and we placed 2nd at the TSA State Conference. This led me to the National Conference in Nashville, Tennessee. Although I did not place at Nationals, I had an invaluable experience and met many new people. My sophomore year in TSA was my most successful year. My team and I competed in Electronic Research and Experimentation and created the "Psychic Sign." We placed 1st at the State Competition and finished Top Ten in the Nation at the National Conference in Orlando, Florida. As a junior I was elected to the Office of Secretary for our school chapter. I worked with a team to compete in the Technology Dare competition, we placed 2nd at the State Competition, but did not finish Top Ten at Nationals. As an active leader on our Executive Board, I was recognized as a Gold Achievement Award recipient. This year I am excited to be the TSA Executive Board President.
Vice President Chris Lordy
I attended the State Conference of 2009 at The College Of New Jersey in the competition of Electronic Research and Experimentation, but we were unsuccessful in qualifying for Nationals in Denver, Colorado. Even though I was not on the board previous to this year, I have done a lot to help with TSA as far as fundraising, helped fellow classmates with their TSA projects, and helped throughout the whole class.
Secretary Kaitlyn Churchman
My name is Kaitlyn Churchman and I am now a senior here at High Point. Since my sophomore year, I have loved being in and around the technology department. My sophomore year I took WIE and participated in the CO2 Power Vehicle portion of TSA. My partners and I placed 3rd at TCNJ and then at Nationals which was held in Orlando, Florida, we placed 6th. This event never placed Top Ten at a national level before. Then in my junior year, my partners and I participated in Electronic Research and Experimentation, at states which were again held at TCNJ we placed 2nd. At Nationals in Denver, Colorado we became National Champions, this again has never happened in this event for High Point. I hope to continue with this success this year.
